As OBI continues to grow as an organization, we want to give you more insight into who we are and some of the different projects we work on. Over the weeks and months ahead we plan to share some new opportunities to meet and interact with Team OBI, including introducing some of our team members – like Amanda!

Monika and Amanda have worked on several education and advocacy projects together in the past, but 2024 will be Amanda’s first year working in an official capacity for the Orca Behavior Institute. She is joining us as a part-time research and education assistant, which includes being a co-instructor for our Bigg’s 201 classes that started this month and helping to develop a new Southern Resident-themed course that we will be offering this fall.

Amanda has several other exciting new ventures on tap for 2024. She has just launched her own business, Sea to Sky Guiding, and will also be working as a naturalist in Alaska for part of the summer. We look forward to sharing some of her updates from the field throughout the year, both here in the Salish Sea and maybe a bit further beyond, too!
